Sharing the joy of golf with our special guests
On the morning of Feb 11, 2025, Keppel Club welcomed 20 special guests from Metta Home for the Disabled for a unique golfing experience. These guests, aged between 18 and 55, were individuals with intellectual disabilities.
This golf clinic marked the first in a series, jointly organised by the Singapore Disability Sports Council, Singapore Golf Association, and Keppel Club under a Memorandum of Understanding signed last December. Through this initiative, persons with disabilities are provided opportunities to participate in and be introduced to the sport of golf.
Participants were taught the basics of golf, including grip, stance, and swing techniques, at the putting green and the golf simulator room. It was a bright and sunny day, and everyone arrived well-prepared with hats and water bottles. Despite their intellectual disabilities, the participants displayed great enthusiasm, eagerly attempting each putt, cheered for one another, and celebrated each small success with joyful applause.
The session concluded with refreshments and a lunch prepared by our F&B team. The guests expressed their appreciation through their smiles and waves as they bade farewell.
This initiative exemplifies the power of golf as a sport that can be enjoyed by all regardless of ability, and highlights Keppel Club’s commitment to making golf more accessible to the wider community. It also reminds us of how sports can foster inclusivity, joy, and meaningful connections.
