President’s Trophy
A swing for charity and camaraderie
The 2025 President’s Trophy teed off on Saturday, July 26, with a spirited turnout of 133 participants. They enjoyed a hearty lunch at Tee Top Restaurant, energising them for the afternoon’s challenge. Although a short but heavy shower delayed play for about half an hour, the skies soon cleared for a cheerful group photo before the shotgun start.

By evening, members gathered in the Berlayer Room for dinner, where the clinking of wine and whisky glasses mingled with warm laughter, setting the tone for a lively night ahead.
The evening’s emcee, Mr Loh Teck Heng, kept the atmosphere upbeat with his wit and humour. A highlight of the night was the charity auction — the Club’s efforts to raise funds for its 16 adopted beneficiaries. Club President Lai Mun Onn reminded everyone that the President’s Trophy dinner marked the start of this year’s fund-raising activities and encouraged members to give generously. Their response was heartening — more than $17,000 was raised.
Special appreciation goes to Mr Sadegh Mortazavy for donating a beautiful carpet for auction, which was successfully bid for by Club Chairman Tan Chong Meng. Thanks also to all participants for their strong show of support for charity.
On the competitive front, Club Captain, Maniam Stacey Anthony clinched the President’s Trophy with 37 points. First runner-up was Mr Soh Soon Thong, who edged out Mr Phua Tzai Hzien on countback after both scored 36 points. The lady’s category winner was Ms Yap Siew Peng, who scored 32 points. The lucky draw’s top prize, a sleek “Titleist” golf bag, went home with Mr Allan Tan.
The 2025 President’s Trophy was more than just a competition — it was a celebration of sportsmanship, generosity, and community spirit. From the Sime course to Berlayer Room, members came together not only to vie for honours but to contribute to a meaningful cause. With such camaraderie and goodwill, the event truly lived up to its name, making it a memorable highlight of the Club’s calendar.
