Local Rules

Local Rules are to be read in conjunction with the Rules of Golf

Out of Bounds is defined by a line of white stakes, fence posts, white lines and/or boundary fence.

  1. The red penalty area when defined only one side extends to infinity. The area beyond the fence within the penalty area is treated as a no play zone under Rule 17.1e.

  2. Dropping Zones for Penalty Areas:
    If a ball is in the penalty area, including when it is known or virtually certain that a ball has not been found and came to rest in the penalty area, the player may proceed under Rule 17 or, as an additional option, drop a ball for one penalty stroke in the dropping zone provided The dropping zone is a relief area under Rule 14.3 and the ball must be dropped in and come to rest within the relief area.
  1. The area indicated by blue stakes on Holes 8 and 16 is a no play zone that is to be treated as an abnormal course condition.

  2. Dropping Zones for No Play Zones:
    If a ball is in the no play zone, including when it is known or virtually certain that a ball has not been found and came to rest in the area, the player must proceed under Rule 16.1f or, as an additional option, drop a ball in the dropping zone provided.

    The dropping zone is a relief area under Rule 14.3 and the ball must be dropped in and come to rest within the relief area.
    1. The area indicated by red stakes with white stripe on top on Holes 6 is a no play zone that is to be treated as a penalty area.

    2. Dropping Zones for No Play Zone within the Penalty Area:

      If a ball is in the no play zone, including when it is known or virtually certain that a ball has not been found and came to rest in the area, the player must proceed under Rule 17.1e or, as an additional option, drop a ball in the dropping zone provided.

      The dropping zone is a relief area under Rule 14.3 and the ball must be dropped in and come to rest within the relief area.

1 Ground Under Repair

    1. Any areas encircled by white lines.
    2. In the General area, areas damaged caused by animals are treated as ground under repair from which relief is allowed under Rule 16.1b.
    3. Free relief is available from edging grooves around the aprons or fringes, but relief is only available if a ball lies in or touches a groove or a groove interferes with the area of intended swing (there is no free relief for stance). Ball in general area – Rule 16.1b applies, Ball on (including touching) putting green – Rule 16.1d applies.

2 Immovable Obstructions

    1. All unmarked concrete drainages.
    2. All roads and paths on the course, even if not artificially-surfaced, are treated as immovable obstructions from which free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1.
    3. All bridges and cart path within the penalty area, are treated as immovable obstructions and free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1 only if the ball came to rest outside the penalty area.
    4. Landscape garden areas and everything growing in them that are surrounded by an Immovable obstruction are treated as a single abnormal course condition.
    5. Wooden curbs adjacent to the cart path area and the cart path are treated as a single abnormal course condition.
    6. Objects used to support or protect these trees are immovable obstructions.

Free relief is allowed only when a ball is embedded in part of the general area under Rule 16.3, however free relief is not allowed when the ball in embedded in the geo-textile material on the face of the bunker.

The following are integral objects from which free relief is not allowed:

    1. Fences and retaining concrete pilings and walls when located in penalty areas
    2. Wires and other objects closely attached to trees
    3. Concrete sleeper on mounds in Hole 3
    4. Geo-textile material on the face of the bunkers

1. Please refer to the Pace of Play policy adopted by the Committee on the Notice Board and the hole-by-hole timings displayed on the buggy.

2. Penalty of breach for this local rule

1. First bad time: Verbal warning

2. Second bad time: One stroke penalty

3. Third bad time: General penalty, in addition to the penalty for the second bad time

4. Fourth bad time: Disqualification

3. For general play, the Club reserves the right to remove any players who failed to observe the Pace of Ply policy from the course without any recourse.

The Club adopts the process of immediate suspension under Rule 5.7b. All players must stop play at once and can only resume play when the Committee declares a resumption of play.

Suspension and resumption of play will be signalled by the Club siren system.

When a player’s ball has not been found or is known or virtually certain to be out of bounds, instead of proceeding under stroke and distance, the player may proceed under MLR E-5 for two penalty strokes. The player may not use this option when the ball is known or virtually certain to have come to rest in a penalty area or the player has played a provisional ball under Rule 18.3
