Friendship and Competition: Captain and Lady Captain’s Day
On Saturday June 22, 2024 Keppel Club organised the Captain and Lady Captain’s Day. There was a large turnout of enthusiastic golfers, including captains of other clubs. Excitement was in the air as old friends teed off. Friendly rivalry were watchwords of the day.
The weather was temperamental at first, with rain pouring incessantly for the better part of the morning, and for a moment it looked like the game might have to be postponed. Yet, as the tee off time drew closer, the clouds cleared, the sun came out, and rare, refreshingly cool weather reigned supreme for the rest of the day.

During the evening, golfers refreshed themselves before dinner and engaged in lively conversations and raised toasts to each other, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie. The Indian cuisine buffet dinner provided a truly delightful culinary experience for all attendees, evidenced by the numerous guests who returned for a second helping. Furthermore, the ambience was elevated by the captivating songs and music of the 3-piece band.
As the dinner drew to a close, the event reached its peak with an exciting lucky draw, rewarding several fortunate attendees with coveted gifts such as golf bags and flights. It was a memorable and rewarding experience for all.
Keppel Club Captain Anthony Maniam beautifully encapsulated the essence of the day by highlighting the invaluable Keppel Club spirit, reminding everyone that genuine connections and shared experiences are truly priceless. He said: “Money can buy many things, money cannot buy the Keppel Club spirit.”
