Golf for disabled gets a boost
On Dec 3, 2024, the Singapore Golf Association (SGA), Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) and Keppel Club signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which will pave the way for persons with disabilities (PWDs) to have more opportunities to participate in golf.
The aim of the MOU is for the three entities to “collaborate on introducing and promoting the game of golf to persons with disabilities”. Under the terms of the MOU, one golf session will be conducted once a month for PWDs at Keppel Club. Each session will include training, practice, and game experiences. SGA will develop a golf curriculum tailored to the needs and abilities of PWDs, and will facilitate these sessions with Keppel Club.
Together with SDSC, they will also support talented PWD golfers by offering them access to further training for international competitions.
Captain Maniam Stacy Anthony said: “At Keppel Club, we are committed to making golf a game for all. As a hybrid club, we embrace our corporate social responsibility to disability sports and to promote inclusivity, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to experience the game of golf.”
This collaborative effort marks a significant step towards greater inclusivity in sports, and is set to promote a culture of inclusivity in both golf and society at large.

Earlier in the day, a group of young PWDs attended their first golf session organised by the three entities. SGA squad members led by Coach Murray Smit guided the participants with patience and passion. The session ended with everyone having a simple but nice buffet lunch at Berlayer Room.
