In this edition, Norman shares an approach to achieve consistency in swing.
Unlock consistency with low-point control
The secret to crisp, powerful ball-striking lies in mastering your swing’s low point — the moment your club reaches the bottom of its arc. Get this right, and you’ll compress the ball like a pro, with every club in your bag.
Why low point matters
Most amateurs miss their best contact because their low point drifts unpredictably behind the ball. The key? Control where your swing bottoms out.
- Irons/Wedges: The low point should occur after the ball. This descending strike creates distance, spin, and control.
- Driver: The low point shifts slightly ahead of the ball, promoting an upward strike with a positive angle of attack — and maximising distance.
Try this drill: Bottom of the arc
- Set-up: Place a tee 3–4 inches behind your ball.
- Swing thought: Focus on brushing the ground just past the ball, avoiding the tee entirely.
- Result: Pure contact — and for irons, a divot that starts after impact.
What’s next?
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Imagine combining low-point control with a swing system that eliminates variables — helping you strike it solidly, even under pressure.
