Krishnan Ramsamy:
Guardian of the greens
Keppel Club has a long and storied history, rich with heritage and tradition. Generations of dedicated staff have acted as stewards, maintaining and refining the standards of the Club for more than a century. Yet few staff have the unique distinction of being “The Green Veteran”.
Meet Mr Krishnan Ramsamy, who holds the unique distinction as one of the longest serving staff – he has served the Club for over three decades, and is into his 32nd year with Keppel Club! Starting off as a part-time general worker in 1993, he transitioned to a full-timer and worked his way up over the years, serving in a myriad of roles – from learning mechanical maintenance, to grass health and fertilisers, and golf course maintenance.
His climb up the ranks has not been easy, with many challenges often thrown his way. Besides learning the technical skills, Krishnan had also picked up leadership skill and manpower control. He is now Keppel Club’s Course Superintendent and oversees all course-related matters of the Club. With a team of 32 staff under his care, Krishnan manages everything from monitoring grass health, to pest and disease control, weekly course maintenance and course renovations. In 2024, he and his team surpassed themselves when they were tasked to build two hospitality villages from scratch for Keppel Club Charity Golf! The end result was so impressive many rave reviews were received from members and guests who participated in the charity event.
When asked about his secret of being in the same job for 31 years, Krishnan shared that he loves his job and is happy with his work despite the early hours, hard work and the sacrifice of being apart from his family in Johor Bahru. He is thankful for the support from his family all these years.
We are heartened to have Krishnan and many other long-serving staff in Keppel Club. The management would like to take this opportunity to express its gratitude for their commitment and dedication through the decades.
