No more monkey business:
Keppel Club’s innovative waste bin solution
Sime course is well-known for the monkeys that roam around the golf course, often causing trouble by rummaging through bins in search of food and leaving a mess behind. To tackle this persistent issue, the golf course maintenance team has come up with an ingenious and creative solution by repurposing empty lubricant oil containers into waste bins that are both functional and monkey-proof.
A Smart and Sustainable Design
- Recycled Oil Containers: The maintenance team has transformed empty lubricant oil containers into waste bins. Their tall design makes it difficult for monkeys to reach inside.
- Secure Top Cover: The bin features a top cover that is easy for golfers to open, and two bars that prevent monkeys from accessing the trash inside.
- Locked Side-Door: To further secure the waste, the bin has a locked side-door that prevents monkeys from breaking in while allowing proper ventilation through small gaps.
- Stable Base: To prevent the bin from toppling over, a cement curb at the base provides stability and ensures it stays upright.
This innovative approach keeps the golf course clean and contributes to sustainability by repurposing materials. With these monkey-proof bins in place, golfers can enjoy their rounds on a clean and green Sime course.
