Keppel Club celebrated a strong finish at the 2026 Singapore Golf Association (SGA) Inter-Club League (ICL), emerging as Joint Plate Winners alongside Tanah Merah Country Club (TMCC) on May 24, 2026. The achievement marks a significant improvement from the club’s 10th-place finish in 2025 and reflects the team’s resilience, dedication and strong spirit throughout the season.
This year’s competition featured nine participating clubs, with Keppel Club drawn into the highly competitive White Group alongside National Service Resort & Country Club (NSRCC), Seletar Country Club and Sentosa Golf Club.

Leading the team this season is League Captain Lionel Lim, who began his golfing journey in 1992. With more than three decades of experience in the sport, Lionel brings valuable leadership, extensive competitive experience and a strong passion for team golf.
“In ICL, every match is important and tense. Winning a match can do wonders for the team spirit and morale,” he said.
Despite a challenging first phase against three different clubs, Keppel Club remained competitive throughout the league, with all divisions giving their best. Our Evergreen Ladies delivered an outstanding performance by topping their group to qualify for the Division Championship stage, where they finished as runners-up after a closely contested match against TMCC. Keppel Club placed fourth in the White Group before securing a confidence-boosting knockout victory over Sembawang Country Club to advance to the Plate Bracket Stage.
In the Plate Final against TMCC at Singapore Island Country Club’s Bukit Course, adverse weather conditions resulted in play being shortened to nine holes. After a closely contested match ended level, SGA declared both teams joint Plate winners.

For Lionel, the achievement was especially meaningful.
“I consider it a privilege to be the ICL Captain. Once I accepted the position, I told myself that I would do my best in making the ICL journey as smooth as possible for everyone in the team,” he shared.
Throughout the season, Lionel emphasised the importance of communication, team chemistry and commitment in keeping the team motivated and focused. The ICL’s mixed-format competition also strengthened camaraderie among players across different divisions.
The team’s latest achievement adds to Keppel Club’s proud ICL legacy, which includes an Overall 2nd Runner-Up finish in 2013 and the Knockout Plate Championship title in 2018. Looking ahead, Lionel hopes the team’s improved performance will inspire more members to embrace competitive golf and contribute to future success.
“We hope we can improve on our performance next year. We are always looking for new talent, and hopefully this year’s result will encourage more members to come forward for a more competitive golfing experience,” he said.
In recognition of the dedication and commitment demonstrated by the Keppel team golfers, an appreciation dinner was held on June 21, 2026. The evening served a heartfelt gesture of gratitude to all team members for their unwavering support and invaluable contributions to the Club’s success throughout the season.
As the 2026 season concludes, Keppel Club can take pride in a campaign marked by resilience, teamwork and progress. Building on this year’s success, the team looks forward to achieving even greater heights in future ICL competitions.
