President Lai hails Keppel Club’s greater inclusiveness
Keppel Club’s Annual General Meeting was held on April 28, 2025, at the Berlayer Room, with 246 members in attendance.
Club President Lai Mun Onn opened the evening by leading members in observing a minute of silence in honour of the late Mr Fock Siew Wah, former Chairman of Keppel Club, who passed away in January. He then thanked members for their continued support and reaffirming the Club’s shared direction.
Mr Lai noted that member engagement continues to strengthen under the Club’s hybrid model. “It’s heartwarming to see our members embracing the participation of members of the public,” he said, adding that this inclusiveness helps foster stronger ties and demonstrates a shared commitment to building a meaningful community.
General Manager Desmond Chua reiterated the Club’s focus on four key areas: enhancing member experience, ensuring financial stability, deepening community outreach, and preparing for the future. “None of this is possible without the trust and support of our members,” he said.
The new Management Committee for the 2025/2026 term was also confirmed during the meeting.
Two of the seven positions due for election were contested. Mr Wong Kok Leong was re-elected as Vice-Captain, while Mr Mark Ng was elected as Billiards and Bowling Convenor, succeeding Ms Trace Wong.
The Committee also welcomed Mr Chooi Khai Pheng as the new House and Bar Convenor who returned unopposed.
Mr Lai thanked Mr Khor Chee Kok, who decided to step down after two terms as House and Bar Convenor, and Trace for their invaluable contributions to the Club.
During the Q&A session, members raised many questions ranging from golf operations to food and beverage, car parking, sports and financial matters. The Management Committee addressed all the questions in detail, reflecting its attentiveness and commitment to open and transparent leadership.
Following the formal proceedings, members gathered over a buffet dinner and continued their conversations in a relaxed and convivial setting, bringing the evening to a warm close.
