Sandra Soon continues as Lady Captain for the third term

The Annual Social Meeting went smoothly on June 15, 2024 with Lady Captain Sandra Soon continuing her term for 2024/2025.
This year, the ladies had a round of golf in the afternoon before adjourning for the Annual Social Meeting in the evening. Forty-eight ladies participated in the meeting, and it was heartening to see some inactive members returning to join the event.
Lady Captain Soon’s agenda for the night included a report on ladies’ matters, upcoming club events and a short question and answer session.
On the ladies’ report, she shared that female members were under-represented in the Club’s past games, such as the 2023 Captain and Lady Captain’s Game, President’s Trophy and Fa Cai Game, and urged the ladies to take the opportunities to play in the mixed games. She also updated that the Quarterly Medal games will be changed to be played bi-monthly, with the next game slated for August.

The spotlight was shone on Inter-Club Ladies League Captain Ang Ah Tew and her team. Lady Captain Soon thanked Ms Ang for her commitment and dedication to the league, and requested for her to continue as League Captain. Not to be forgotten were the league team whose hard work and passion were also recognised. Lady Captain Soon also expressed her appreciation to the staff from the golf office for working tirelessly to serve the members.
Moving on to the Club’s upcoming events, Lady Captain Soon shared the following games that members can look forward to:
July 13: VP vs VC Game
Aug 9: National Day Game
Aug 17: President’s Trophy
Aug & Sep (TBA): Medal Game
Aug 31 & Sept 1,7,8: Keppel Club Charity Golf
Oct 19 (tentative): Ladies Fun Game
Nov (TBA): Medal Game
Dec 22: Christmas Fun Game
Lastly, Lady Captain Soon reported that the Club has been using the old handicap bracket to define each division and this has caused confusion among members. With the new course and slope rating at Sime, the golf office has reviewed the handicapping with the Green Committee. It has been decided that the Club will adopt the new handicap bracket moving forward.
Before the meeting ended, the result of the day’s friendly match was announced. Lady Captain’s team emerged the winners, and Vice-Lady Captain’s team did not walk away empty-handed either. Everyone had their prizes and group photos were taken to commemorate this special day.
