The Keppel Club Junior Invitational 2024: Inspiring youths to dream big
It was an annual congregation of young golfers at Keppel Club. On June 3, 2024, Keppel Club hosted its Keppel Club Junior Invitational 2024, which saw the participation of junior golfers from Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, India, China, Philippines, Korea and Japan.
“The Keppel Club Junior Invitational provides a platform for junior golfers and their coaches to gauge the technical skills and physical endurance of the young golfers in a competitive environment,” said Keppel Club Youth Development Chairman Eugene Heng. “We are pleased to see so many kids participating today.”
Fifty-four young golfers between the ages of eight and 17 were divided into four divisions – two for boys and two for girls.
The competition started out well on fair weather as the first flight teed off at 11.01am and 11.02am on holes 1 and 10 respectively. As the day progressed, the scorching sun soon took a toil on the players. Coupled with the humidity and the undulating terrain of Sime course, the young competitors soon felt the strain of walking the course.

Dylan Ng from the “A” division shared, “Sime course is hilly and it is challenging to walk under such intense heat.” His fellow competitor, Matthew Ong, concurred.
By late afternoon, the weather took a turn and inclement weather led the competition to be suspended and later, ended prematurely. As some competitors played 17 holes, while others only managed to complete nine, the results were computed based on the scores of nine holes.
